"It's a story of redemption. Heritage. Coming home. These are central themes throughout the musical "This Is Home" that the congregation of First Missionary Baptist Church in Auburndale, Florida are performing on Easter weekend. The play revolves around three adult children coming home to their small, country town and church for their mother's funeral after her passing. A visual representation of the passion of Christ is woven throughout family scenes of humor, conflict, and the tenderness of a mother's love and concern for her children. This presentation is a collaborative effort of people of all ages who attend FMBC. It will be the first time they have ever worked with a scrim, which is a fabric screen that can either be opaque or transparent, depending on the lighting. This is a great chance for people young and old to work together towards a common goal. Both long time members of the congregation and new members and attenders are getting involved! The staff and people of FMBC are truly getting excited about this project as momentum has been building since rehearsals first started at the end of January. They are encouraging anyone who would like to come to something enjoyable and meaningful this Easter season to feel welcome to attend either of the free performances. Performances will be: Saturday evening, April 3rd at 6:00 Easter Sunday morning, April 4th, at 10:45 Nursery will be provided and all are welcome to come.
